Europe Roberto Mancini resigns as Italy coach amid Saudi Arabia temptation

Roberto Mancini is no longer Italy national team head coach as the country’s FA announced on Sunday that they have mutually parted ways.

Two years after winning the Euros with the Nazionale, the 58-year stepped down from his position as head coach.

Mancini was appointed Italy manager in 2018 and was recently given the U20s and U21s job for a continuity int he work.

However, he decided to leave his job despite havingt he confidence of his employer.

“The Italian Football Federation announces that it has taken note of the resignation of Roberto Mancini from the post of coach of the Italian national team, received late last night”, the FIGC statement reads.

“A significant page in the history of the Azzurri, which began in May 2018 and ended with the 2023 Nations League Finals, comes to an end.

“In between, the victory at Euro 2020, a triumph conquered by a group in which all the individuals were able to become a team.

“Given the large and tight commitments for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers, the name of the new national coach will be announced in the coming days.”

According to L’Equipe, Roberto Mancini could bounce back in Saudi Arabie where he is wanted.
