CAF Champions League CAFCL: Power Dynamos will overpower Simba SC – Chipepo

Power Dynamos coach Mwenya Chipepo is confident the Zambian champions can triumph against Simba Sports Club of Tanzania when the two teams meet in the first leg of the 2023-24 CAF Champions League second-round match on Saturday.

Kick-off at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium will be at 15h00 and tickets are available from K10 in all Shoprite stores via CompuTicket countrywide. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Chipepo declared his charges ready and said the Zambian champions have nothing to fear going into the first leg on Saturday.

“It’s been a long time since we participated in the (CAF) Champions League, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t beat Simba. We are ready, we played against a good African Stars (in the first round), and they are very organised. Simba is a very good but we know their weaknesses and we are going to beat them,” a confident Chipepo said,” adding: “We know their weakness and we will just play them as if we are playing another team. In short, I can say that we are ready for them.”

Last month, Chipepo and his Dynamos side received a 2-0 beating from Simba on Simba Day in an international friendly, but the Dynamos gaffer says the result is now history.

“It was a very tough game we played against them in a friendly match and it gave us an insight. We know how they play, it’s a very good side and full of experience. They’ve been playing this (CAF) competition for a long time and we saw how far they went in the previous tournament they played but as Power Dynamos we have prepared well,” Chipepo said.

Dynamos captain Godfrey Ngwenya admits meeting Simba SC will not be easy but a positive result is attainable. “The weight we are carrying is very huge but it’s up to us to carry it. Simba is a good side and we respect them and what they have achieved but we also have our own achievement and coming into this game, it’s up to us to prove the people,” Ngwenya said.

“We just want the fans to add more numbers than the previous game, this is not for Power Dynamos but for mother Zambia so let’s come in numbers and we appreciate your support and will make you proud.”
