England Arsenal boss Arteta lavishes praise on Charles Sagoe Jr after his 1st team appearance

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta hailed Charles Sagoe Jr for his performance in their Carabao Cup 1-0 win against Brentford on Wednesday night.

The 19-year old was line-upd alongside Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson in Gunners’ attack against the Bees.

And Sagoe Jr showed his ability to play in Arsenal’s first team and has convinced his coach in 68 minutes of play even though he did not score.

“Obviously, the context of the situation with a lot of injured players helped that possibility. But every time we can, we have to look in our academy and give chances”,

“Charles was probably one of the most consistent players we’ve had in the under-23s for a few months.

“He’s been training with us quite a lot, and it’s about giving opportunities to people. If we don’t give it today, when are we going to give opportunities to our youngsters?

“I’m really happy that he had a good experience.”

Charles Sagoe Jr who is born to a Ghanaian father said making a first team appearance was a dream come true for him.

“It’s a dream come true to have made my professional debut with Arsenal last night. It’s a proud moment for me and my family and it’s an experience I’ll never forget. Thank you for your support”, he wrote on social media
