Premier League Liverpool will be A Terrific Test For Us- Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, said on Friday that Liverpool will be a terrific test for his team as they attempt to impose their new style of play against one other this weekend in the Premier League.

Juergen Klopp’s squad has the longest unbeaten streak among clubs in Europe’s top leagues, having last lost in April of the 2022–23 season. Tottenham and Liverpool are two of the four unbeaten teams still standing in the Premier League this season.

Even though they didn’t make it into the Champions League, Postecoglou claimed Liverpool, who were seventh at the time last season, are on the rise once more.

Postecoglou Aware Of What Fans Want From North London derby

“They’ve been a very good football team for a while now.

“They fell off the pace last year a little, but the elements of who they are as a football team have always been there.

It’s a great test for us,” Postecoglou told reporters.

“They probably bring something different from any other team in the league in the way they play and the manner they go about things.

“It’ll be a really good test for us to try to impose our football on a team that’s fairly unique in the way they play the game.”

Since Postecoglou took over, Spurs have also been a team on the rise, with a wave of optimism pouring across the white half of North London as a result of the team’s best league season start in 57 years.

The Australian lauded Klopp for what the German had introduced to not only Liverpool but the entire league, praising their high-tempo offensive and defensive style while Postecoglou had only just started to make his imprint.

Juergen is an outstanding manager, he’s one the managers I think it’s fair to say who has made an impact on the competition, not just his club,” Postecoglou said.

“When he came in, with the way Liverpool went about things, he challenged quite a few of the conventions about the Premier League and introduced a new style of play that others have followed.

“It’s a great test for where we are at the moment in terms of our development.”

Brennan Johnson, a forward, will be out injured on Saturday, according to Postecoglou, while Son Heung-min and James Maddison will be evaluated.

Madders and Sonny trained today, just finished the session, and seemed to get through it not too bad,” he said.

“We’ll just have to see how they pull up as it’s fair to say they were a bit sore after last week.”
