Uganda 10-man BUL see off Arua Hill to join Kitara at the top

Ten-man BUL joined Kitara at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League following a 2-1 away victory over Arua Hill at the Paridi Ground in Adjumani on Sunday.

Lawrence Tezikya scored BUL’s winner after John Rogers had cancelled out Alex Kitatta’s lead for the visitors. The only sore on BUL’s good day out was the sending off of Benon Tahomera for dangerous play midway through the second half. BUL’s third straight win moves coach Abbey Kikomeko men to nine points, the same as league newcomers Kitara – both sides having collected maximum points from their opening games.

Kitatta put BUL ahead on 28 minutes when he headed in Joel Madondo’s cross. But Rogers near post header from a corner kick five minutes later sent both teams into the halftime break level. Unfortunately for the hosts, it did not stay level for long.

Poor Arua Hill defending allowed BUL to sneak in a second goal with Tezikya connecting home a flick-on by Kitatta from Pascal Ngobi’s throw-in on 73 minutes. BUL restored the lead despite being a man down after Tahomera was earlier sent off for a dangerously high challenge.

As for Arua Hill, the season couldn’t have started worse. The Kongolo sit bottom of the 16-team table after losing their opening three games.
