CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAFCC: Obama’s Goal Hands Zamalek Narrow Win Over Abu Salem

Youssef Obama’s goal in the 73rd minute gave Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek, a narrow 1-0 victory at home over Abu Salem of Libya in their Group B CAF Confederation Cup opener.

In a concurrent Group B match, Sagrada Esperanca welcomed CO Coyah of Guinea to Angola.

Lepua’s goal in the 35th minute put the Angolan team up to maximum points, and Luis Tati’s goal in the 75th minute sealed the win.

Diables Noirs were defeated by Stade Malien in Congo, a dismal result.

The Malian guests did not take long to punish what appeared to be a haphazard Diables Noirs defence.

Amadou Traore gave the visitors the lead in the fourth minute, and Yoro Diaby doubled it shortly after.

Issah Yakubu made it three minutes before halftime, and the hosts entered the break looking defeated.

Lorry Nkolo, who ended the game with a 3-1 loss at home after converting a penalty in the 69th minute, provided some solace.
