Nigeria Super Falcons Interim Coach Promises To Make Nigerians Smile

Justin Madugu, the Super Falcons’ interim head coach, has reassured Nigerian fans that their team is prepared to make them smile.

Following the first practice at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Monday, Madugu made this statement in anticipation of the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying matchup against Cape Verde.

Madugu stated that it also gives the young players a chance to shine and establish their worth.

Oshoala, a forward, and Jennifer Echegini, a midfielder, willingly left the Super Falcons roster, forcing Madugu to choose replacements for them.

He said: “Nigerians are not happy with the results, especially with the male team.

“We see it as an opportunity to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians too.

“Naturally you build your team based on the caliber and quality of players you have around you. We have looked at that considering what options will be best for us, and what tactics we can adopt considering the players that are available to us.

“It’s something we have been thinking about based on the spate of withdrawals of the key players we are expecting in the team.

You don’t prepare for any game expecting that the result will not go your way. You will expect that you want to win and that has always been our target.

“We are planning to ensure that we win both games because that will help to boost the confidence in the team especially the confidence of the younger ones that are coming into the team and will also help to blend the team.”

The Super Falcons will play their opponents from Cape Verde in the first leg of their matchup at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Thursday, November 30.

The second leg is set to take place on Tuesday, December 5 at the Santiago-Estadio Nacional Blue Shark in Praia.
