Kenya Patron Nyamweya is the voice of Shabana – Onsika

Former international Elijah Onsika has called on patron Sam Nyamweya to continue agitating for good governance in the club’s management saying it could help the team keep their status in the FKF Premier League.

Recently, Nyamweya named and shamed imposters believed to be dragging Tore Bobe to relegation, just a season after they gained promotion to the top flight following 17 years in the cold. Nyamweya went further to outline key areas that the club’s top hierarchy should address as a matter of urgency before things get out of hand.

He mentioned the importance of hiring the services of a permanent coach to replace Sammy Okoth, who was fired following a string of poor results and further called on the club to move their home matches from Homabay Stadium to Narok or Ulinzi Complex until renovation work at Gusii Stadium is completed.

Onsika, who previously played for Kisumu Posta and Harambee Stars has supported Nyamweya’s call insisting th Omogusii community is rallying behind him to turn the fourtunes of the club.

“Nyamweya statement was a right call for the club, we have some people who are not bonafide officials of the club but are issuing statements day and night on behalf of the team, this is very unnecessary and it is time such masquarenders are stopped,” Onsika told Africa Top Sports.

“If Nyamweya keeps silent, Shabana will be relegated, that is the truth of the matter, and furthermore, he (Nyamweya) is the bonafide patron of the team and he has every right under the club’s constitution to voice his concerns (as many times as possible) just like any other person, who loves the club,” said Onsika.

“Nyamweya has done a lot to this great club, he has supported them even when they were financially struggling, he used his own money to bail out the team, this never happened once but countless times.

“So any person trying to silence Nyamweya or saying he (Nyamweya) should talk less about the club is misguided and does not know anything to do with the great Shabana.”
