Kenya ‘Pamzo’ takes charge at Shabana after Nairobi City Stars cling on to Muyoti

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League outfit Shabana have finally settled for the services of coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo after their efforts to sign Nicholas Muyoti from Nairobi City Stars hit a snag.

Tore Bobe were keen to bring Muyoti to take charge of the side but despite the former AFC Leopards midfielder agreeing on the offer on the table, his club City Stars refused to hand him a release letter as he was still contracted to them.

Shabana chairman Jared Nitavon confirmed the appointment of Omollo, whose last stint was at Kenya Police in the top-flight. “It is true, Omollo is our new head coach, we have unveiled him and he will start work immediately,” said Nivaton, who refused to divulge the length of the contract signed.

The 53-year-old Omollo, who has also handled Tusker, KCB, and Posta Rangers, will replace Sammy Okoth, who was fired after matchday 12 owing to a series of poor results.

Since Okoth’s exit, Shabana have been under Oscar Kambona on an interim basis.Omollo will now have 17 matches to save Shabana’s season starting with the away fixture against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium on Saturday.

They are currently sitting second from the bottom with 14 points from 17 matches having managed three wins, five draws, and suffered nine defeats.
