Transfers DONE DEAL: Kenya’s Eric Ouma leaves AIK for Rakow Czestochowa

Harambee Stars defender Eric Ouma has officially ditched Swedish outfit AIK for Rakow Czestochowa in Poland on a permanent deal.

A statement on Rakow’s official website confirmed: “The Kenyan Eric Otieno has joined Rakow Czestochowa on a permanent transfer from the Swedish AIK. The contract with the 27-year-old midfielder will be valid until the end of December 2026, with an option to extend it for another two years.”

Rakow Sporting Director Samuel Cardenas said on signing Otieno: “We are pleased to announce that Eric (Otieno) is our second winter signing this season. Eric has been a standout player in his position in recent years in Sweden.

“Now there is an opportunity for him to join us. Eric is a player who fits our philosophy perfectly. He is fast, aggressive and always plays with intensity. Thanks to his qualities on the ball and his consistent play with both feet, he will be an option for both sides as a shuttle player in our system.

“We are looking forward to seeing Erick in our jersey because he is eager to fight for more titles and prove his worth on the European arena.”

Born in Nairobi, Eric started his senior career in the capital club with FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia. In January 2017, he joined Georgian Kolkheti-1913, for which he made 20 appearances.

A year later he went to KS Kastrioti. However, he did not play any match in Albania, and in July 2018 he joined the third league team from Sweden – Vasalunds IF.

The Kenyan’s good attitude was rewarded with a transfer to AIK, with whom he signed a contract in January 2020. There he played in 103 matches, scoring four goals and recording 15 assists. Erick also has 38 caps for the Kenyan national team on his CV.
