Ghana to sack coach Chris Hughton for poor perfomance

Ghana coach Chris Hughton should be relieved of his duties as Ghana coach following the Black Stars’ poor performance at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023).

The Black Stars are set to exit the group stage of the competition for the second time in a row, after being unable to win a single match during the group stages.

Ghana squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Mozambique in their final group match on Monday, with the Black Stars seeing their qualification hopes crumble in the final minutes.

According to Ghanaian media, Hughton, who was appointed head of the team in February 2023, risks being fired for this terrible poor performance.

Under Chris Hughton, the Black Stars have struggled to win matches and the federation is considering replacing the former Brighton manager as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume next March.
