Asisat Oshoala officially leaves FC Barcelona for the United States

Nigerian striker, Asisat Oshoala, officially leaves FC Barcelona for Bay FC in the United States Women’s Championship.

With the San Francisco outfit, Oshoala has signed until 2026 as well as an option for 2027. The former Liverpool and Arsenal striker leaves Europe for America after scoring 106 goals in 149 appearances between 2019 and 2024 at Barça.

She has played 14 matches, including 3 starts, for Barcelona this season, scoring 8 goals. The 29-year-old, who also played for Dalian Quanjian in China, won the CAF Women’s Player award six times and in 2022 became the first African woman to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

The Nigeria Super Falcons striker has won several titles with Barça, including two Women’s Champions League and the Women’s Championship twice. Her new team, Bay FC, finished 14th last season in the NWSL, the American women’s league.

The new season begins for Oshoala and her teammates on March 16 against Angel City in Los Angeles.
