Saudi Arabia Cristiano Ronaldo on target as Al-Nassr reach Asian Champions League quarters

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr moved into the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League on Wednesday following a 3-0 aggregate victory over Al-Fayha in an-all Saudi Arabian matchup.

A week after winning 1-0 in the away leg – thanks to another Ronaldo goal – Al Nassr won 2-0 on home soil on Wednesday to complete a 3-0 aggregate victory in the round of 16.

Otavio headed Al Nassr in front on the night in the 17th minute before Ronaldo sealed the win late in the second half following a goalkeeping blunder. Ronaldo’s goal – the 876th of his career across all competitions – came after he had chased a long pass forward by Marcelo Brozovic.

Al Feiha keeper Vladimir Stojkovic got to the pass before Ronaldo but failed to control the ball, which went between his legs and the former Real Madrid striker then gratefully put the loose ball into the empty net.

Al-Nassr is still aiming for a first-ever continental title and will take on Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates in the quarter-finals next month.
