However, after the ball went off goalkeeper Bernd Leno, United defender Harry Maguire equalised in the 89th minute with a half-volley from within the penalty area, and the home team appeared ready to salvage at least a point.

But in the 97th minute, after a counterattack, Iwobi—who had earlier wasted two excellent chances—swept a shot past Andre Onana, who was fixed in his goal, into the bottom corner, leaving the home crowd stunned.

After the final whistle, Fulham manager Marco Silva joined his team to celebrate in front of the jubilant visiting fans.

Alejandro Garnacho was United’s most threatening attacker; he had two shots that goalkeeper Bernd Leno pushed away with a diving save and another that was cleared off the line by defender Antonee Robinson.

Rasmus Hojlund, who had scored in six of United’s previous league games, was out injured.

United, who suffered their first league defeat in six games, now sits sixth in the standings with 44 points, eight points behind Aston Villa in fourth. With 32 points, Fulham is ranked 12th.

It was Fulham’s first away Premier League victory in twelve. This season, United has lost more league games than they did in the whole 2022–2023 campaign—ten.
