Olympic Games Olympic Qualifiers: Waldrum Upbeat Of Qualification

Randy Waldrum, the head coach of the Super Falcons, is confident his team will defeat Cameroon in the second leg of their Olympic qualifying match for 2024.

At the Stade de la Reunification in Douala on Friday night, the nine-time African champions held the Indomitable Lionesses to a scoreless draw in the opening leg of their match.

Waldrum, nevertheless, is confident that his team will win the rematch.

On Monday, the second match will take place at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola Stadium.

We’re not afraid to lose. I am not afraid,” Waldrum said after the game.

“My mind as the manager of the squad doesn’t think of what if we lose because we always play to win.

“That thought is not even in my mind.

“We don’t fear anybody.”

“We played the European champions (England) to penalty kicks in the World Cup and held the Olympic gold medalist (Canada) to a draw at the World Cup, we got a victory over Australia.

We can play with the best teams in the world.

“I give credit to Cameroon for the job they did. But there is no fear in our part.”

If the Super Falcons defeat Cameroon, they will advance to play Tanzania or South Africa, the reigning African champions.

Tanzania was trounced 3-0 by South Africa on Friday in the first leg.
