Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has said that Taiwo Awoniyi is still having fitness issues despite the fact that he scored one of the goals that helped Nottingham Forest defeat West Ham United 2-0.

Early in the match against the Hammer, the recently injured Nigerian international made a strong impression on the crowd.

Espirito in his post-match Conference said the club will try and manage the forward in their quest to remain in the Premier League.

“Strikers are about scoring but for us, it’s more than that.

“They have to work, they have to read the game and when the moment comes put it inside the net.

“We know he’s struggling in terms of fitness, it’s up to us to manage him”, the manager said.

Awoniyi’s injury, which occurred during a Premier League game, prevented him from competing in the African Cup of Nations.
