Nigeria Premier League NPFL: Sporting Lagos Down Remo As Tornadoes Beat Bayelsa Away

The Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL entered week 24 this weekend with lots of intrigues.

Matchday 24 was exhilarating as Niger Tornadoes shrugged off their 2-0 loss at home against Enugu Rangers to record the only away win of the week.

A total of 22 goals was scored in various venues across the country with Sporting Lagos as the team with the highest goal scored.

In a South West derby match on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Sporting Lagos defeated Remo Stars 4-1.

Junior Lokosa, a former top scorer in the Nigeria Premier Football League, opened Sporting Lagos’ account on the spot after five minutes.

In minute 27, Pascal Onyekachi doubled the lead.

Seven minutes before halftime, Aliu Salawudeen helped Remo Stars fight back and cut the lead.

After the half, goals from Philip Odubia and Isaac Annor put the game beyond the visitors.

Shooting Stars defeated Akwa United in Ibadan, extending their winning run to four games.

The Oluyole Warriors’ goals were scored by Abdul Lawal, Christian Pyagbara, and Victor Ehibe.

Chijioke Mbaoma scored the game-winning goal two minutes from the end for holders Enyimba in a 1-0 victory over Doma United in Aba.

The game ended in a 0-0 tie for Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.

The Umuahia Township Stadium saw a 1-1 draw between the Abia Warriors and Lobi Stars.

After 70 minutes, Fabian Omaka scored the first goal for Abia Warriors.

Deep into stoppage time, the visitors levelled through John Victor.

Bendel Insurance compounded visiting Gombe United woes as they defeated the Savannah Scorpion 2-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Heartland FC were able to get a point against Katsina United.
