Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will not be taking part in Ghana Black Stars’ friendly game against Nigeria later this month as he asked Ghana Football Association (GFA) to be excused from the squad.

The 31-year old only returned to action with the Gunners two weeks ago against Sheffield United after he missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to a thigh injury.

With only two months remaining for the end of the season, the former Atletico Madrid star has asked GFA not to be called up for this FIFA break.

“Thomas Partey asked to be excused from the game to gain full fitness following recent injuries”, the Ghana Football Association statement reads.

Black Stars will take on Nigeria on March 22 in Casablanca, Morocco and Uganda Cranes four days later.
