Friendly FIFA Series: Tunisia Bow To Croatia On penalties

2022 FIFA World Cup semifinalists , Croatia struggled to defeat Tunisia through penalty after a 0-0 draw in a friendly on Saturday

After the game went into a shootout, Croatia won 5–4 with to three crucial penalty saves from goalie Ivica Ivusic, who came in for Dominik Livakovic in the second half.

Seifeddine Jaziri’s meek attempt to win it for Tunisia in sudden death was thwarted by Ivusic. Oussama Haddadi’s game-winning penalty was saved by the Cypriot goalie.

The hosts, who overcame New Zealand 1-0 on Friday, will play Egypt in the four-team event final on Tuesday.

The competition is a part of the new FIFA friendly game series that was introduced to let teams from various confederations play against one another.
A talented Croatian team that had players like Mateo Kovacic and Luka Modric was limited to few opportunities by Tunisia’s defence.

In an otherwise dull match, Tunisia produced the better chances of the game on the break despite Croatia’s territorial superiority.

In the first half, Ali Abdi shot far over the crossbar while Hamza Jelassi’s goal was disallowed for a slight offside.

In the 77th minute, Sayfallah Ltaief, a replacement from Tunisia, had the best chance when he headed over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
