Chelsea Chelsea To Assess Chilwell Ahead Burnley Game- Pochettino

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has announced on Thursday that Ben Chilwell was sidelined from training due to a leg issue after he returned from injury to play for England in their friendly games.

In their two friendlies, England’s 1-0 loss to Brazil on Saturday and Tuesday’s 2-2 tie with Belgium, Chilwell made his debut for the national team for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in September that kept him out for more than three months.

He wasn’t all right to train today so we will need to assess him ahead of tomorrow,” Pochettino told reporters before Saturday’s Premier League home clash with Burnley.

“I was a little bit surprised that he started two games for England and now he’s had a knock, but we need him available to play for our club.”

Chilwell has not appeared for Chelsea since the 2-2 draw against Brentford on March 2 due to a knee injury he also sustained earlier this month.

Romeo Lavia, a midfield player for Chelsea, suffered a hamstring injury on Thursday, ending his season.

Chelsea currently has nine first team players out with injuries, including attacker Christopher Nkunku and captain Reece James.

“Of course he’s not happy because he has only played 30 minutes as a new player for the club .

it’s a shame but sometimes these things happen in football,” Pochettino said about Lavia.

The Argentine continued by saying that Chelsea, who are now in 11th place and fighting to stay in the league, would not be taken lightly.

“It’s not just about points because you can see the potential of their team,” he said. “It’s going to be difficult.

They are a team that play with freedom and are very physical.”
