UEFA Champions League UCL: Arteta Admits Arsenal Was Not At It’s Best Against Bayern

Mikel Arteta admitted that his team fell short of their typical calibre and allowed Bayern to reenter the contest.

In pursuit of their first league championship in twenty years, Arsenal leads the Premier League with seven games remaining.

On Tuesday they had to fight back and got a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium.

“A lot of things today we haven’t done it to the standards we normally do,” the Spaniard stated.

“We allowed them spaces to run and they are very dangerous.

“Even 2-1 (down) the team tried to find the rhythm, didn’t rush things and the changes made a big difference.”

Arsenal is in the last eight of the competition for the first time in fourteen years, in stark contrast to Bayern’s extensive history at this point.

However, Arteta is still confident that his team can surprise the hosts in eight days at the Allianz Arena.

Look at the players they have, the experience they have, you get punished, but that’s part of football,” he added.

“I have a lot of belief we can go there and beat them. We have to prepare really well.”
