Uganda Uganda Cup: Kitara FC floor holders Vipers SC to reach semis-finals

NEC, BUL FC and Kitara will be in the draw for the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final after overcoming their opponents in the quarter finals.

NEC beat Fufa Big League table leaders Police 2-0 in the first quarter final earlier in the week with goals from Cromwell Rwothomio and Gadafi Wahab. The other all-premier league ties ended in stalemates with kicks from the penalty spot separating the winner and loser.

On Saturday, Herbert Achai and Peter Magambo hit the cross bar from the spot after the game ended 1-1 after extra time with Alex Kitaata and Ettiene Katenga scoring for BUL and KCCA respectively in normal time.

Sunday saw Kitara edge holders Vipers 5-4 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Municipal Stadium in Masindi. Paul Mucureezi scored twice from the spot – first in normal time and the other in extra time to draw his team level on both occasions after goals from Bright Anukani and Yunus Sentamu.

In the shootout, the former Venom scored the winning penalty in a perfect Kitara show with Karim Watambala missing for Vipers. Focus will now shift to the Ugandan Premier League next week with the cup draw expected in the near future.
