UEFA Champions League UCL: Ancelotti Says Madrid Not On Revenge Mission Against Man City

Coach Carlo Ancelotti stated that Real Madrid has moved past their crushing Champions League loss to Manchester City from the previous season as they get ready to play their second leg of the quarterfinal on Wednesday at The Etihad.

Real Madrid and City drew 1-1 at home in the semi-final first leg of the previous season before Pep Guardiola’s team, who won the competition for the first time, destroyed Real 4-0.

Real and City battled to a 3-3 tie last week in a thrilling first-leg quarterfinal match in Madrid.

I think we’ve forgotten what happened. We are focused only on tomorrow, thinking about what happened a week ago,” Ancelotti told reporters on Tuesday.

“The last game was close, now anything can happen. We believe we have the necessary quality to create problems.”

Real and City have split their previous three home games, so Wednesday’s showdown could be exciting given that there have been 23 goals scored in their previous five meetings.

Games against City have always been spectacular. Tomorrow will be the same,” said Ancelotti.

The Italian added that facing City again did not worry him.

The only thing that will stop me sleeping is if I eat too much tonight,” he said.

At The Etihad, Real Madrid could face difficulties from City striker Erling Haaland.

If we are talking about individuals, Haaland is one of the most dangerous players City have,” said Ancelotti.

“He didn’t appear much in the first leg, but Haaland could be one of the best strikers in the world right now. He is always dangerous.”
