Burkina Faso Burkina Faso On The Hunt For Head Coach At The Helm Of The Stallions

The Federation Burkinabe de Football (FBF) decided not to extend the contract of Kamou Malo despite leading the Stallions to the semi-finals of the recent TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon where they lost to eventual winners Senegal.

The contract expired after their participation in the tournament with Oscar Borro appointed as the interim coach in the wake of the decision on the future of Malo. And now the FBF is embarking on a mission to get a substantive trainer.

On Friday, the FBF started the process of appointing a competent coach by calling for applications to fill the position. And the qualified candidate could be local or foreign coach to take the post permanently.

The Federation Burkinabe de Football is calling for applications for the recruitment of a national coach for the Senior Stallions.” The FBF wrote in a statement on Friday.

The federation set out the criteria for applicants insisting that those interested in the position must have the experience of coaching a national team at the Africa Cup of Nations. And they should also be able to communicate effectively in French.

The successful candidate must permanently reside in Burkina Faso during the term of his engagement as the coach of the senior national team.

The FBF will start receiving applications from 15 March until 31 March before shortlisted candidates are interviewed for the identity of the successful coach to be known.

Malo has been in charge of the squad since 2019. And he has been credited for the team’s recent successes including their impressive showing at the recent AFCON in Cameroon.

He previously coached local side Real club Kadiogo with whom he won the Burkinabe league back to back in 2016 and 2017. He also won the FA Cup with the club in 2012 and 2016.
