Africa Gambia : The Coach is Happy For Competition Resumption

Tom Saintfiet did not hide his joy further to the announcement of 2021 AFCON qualifiers return. The Gambian coach considers himself happier as “a little boy with a birthday present”.

It has been a long time since November. We were well prepared for the March games before Covid-19. And it was a difficult time for everyone.” The Belgian technician told journalist, Modou Bah.

The CAF officially announced on Wednesday return to qualifier in November. “It’s great to know that we’re going to be back to the games in November. And especially having friendly games in October is fantastic. As of yesterday, we have already started to work.” He added.

Saintfiet aims at bringing the Scorpions to their first AFCON in January 2022. Gambia is ahead its group with 4 points after two playoff days. Tied with Gabon (next opponent) and ahead of DR Congo and Angola. Moreover, the former coach of Togo is one of the coaches who wanted to compete in the AFCON in 2021. In May, he proposed to freeze the qualifying rankings on the 2 days and qualify the first two teams
