Egypt Dietrich Weise: ex-Al Ahly and Egypt gaffer died at 86

Dietrich Weise

German technician Dietrich Weise passed away on Monday, December 21 aged 86.

During his living time, Weise coached the German youth team before establishing his authority at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt from 1983 to 1986 after his first stint from 1973 to 1976.

In Africa, he managed Al Ahly from 1988 to 1989 and help the Red Devils completing a resounding treble that season as they clinched the Egyptian Premier League, Egypt Cup and the Afro-Asian Championship.

In addition, Dietrich Weise coached the Egypt national team thanks to his success with Al Ahly but he was sacked in a year as Pharaohs were knocked out of the All-Africa games group stages in 1991.
