African players abroad Premier League : Liverpool BacK To Winning Ways With Sadio Mane In Shape

Liverpool returned to winning ways in the 2020-21 English Premier League season with a 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening.

Sadio Mane played a part in all three goals as the Reds snapped a five-game winless run in the league, to move up to fourth, four points behind Manchester City who occupy top spot.

Liverpool hadn’t scored in four successive league games before Roberto Firmino’s tap-in from a Mane cross in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Trent Alexander-Arnold doubled the visitors’ lead soon after the interval after Hugo Lloris failed to hold onto Mane’s initial effort. Spurs pulled a goal back through Pierre-Emile Hojberg. But Liverpool’s Senagelese star would make sure of all three points for the defending champions with a thumping finish.

The goal was Mane’s first in the league since a 1-1 draw versus West Brom late last year and his 10th across all competitions this season. The 28-year-old directly articipated in 15 goals in 28 matches in the current campaign.
