Qatar 2022 Mozambique v Malawi: Confirmed Line-Up

Mozambique host Malawi in an academic World Cup Group D qualifier at Matheu Kerekou Stadium in Benin on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mambas are yearning for a first win of the World Cup qualifiers whereas the neighbours are out to avoid finishing bottom of the group.

Malawi coach has since named his starting XI with five changes made to the squad that lost 4-0 to Cameroon on Friday.

Winger Peter Banda, goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe, defender Gomezgani Chirwa, midfielders Mike Mkwate and Taonga Chimodzi  have earned a starting role ahead of Brighton Munthali, John Banda, Francis Mlimbika, Gerald Phiri and Richard Mbulu who are unavailable due to reasons ranging from injuries to suspensions.

Malawi have three points from five games while placed third in the group whereas Mozambique anchor the table with one point.

Mozambique are hosting matches away because their home venue was declared unfit.

In another match for the group, Cameroon welcome Ivory Coast today Tuesday in a World Cup qualifier that will decide Group D with plenty at stake.

The Elephants lead the group by a point over the Indomitable Lions and a draw for the visitors would be enough to take them through to the final play-off round for a place at the World Cup finals in Qatar 2022.

On the other hand, Cameroon need nothing short of a win in this game to sail through.
