AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Facing Morocco is the biggest game of our lives—Malawi vice-captain

Malawi vice-captain John Banda has described the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Round-of-16 meeting with Morocco on Tuesday as “the biggest game of our lives.”

Banda said this in Yaounde where the Flames have relocated after securing third place finish from Group B matches played in Bafoussam.

All is well in camp. We travelled well from Bafoussam and we have settled well in the new environment.  To most of us, Younde is not new. We were here in 2018 for 2019 AFCON qualifiers and just four months ago, for the World Cup Qualifiers. So, we are very familiar with the venues and everything,” the Mozambique-based midfielder told Malawi FA website.

“The Morocco game is the biggest game of our lives and we are looking forward to it. We respect Morocco but do not fear them. We played them twice in the AFCON three years ago and I played in both matches. They are a beatable side with a proper game plan.”

Malawi played all their group matches in Bafoussam where they lost 1-0 to Guinea the beat Zimbabwe 2-1 and held Senegal 0-0.

The Flames had their first training session in Yaounde on Friday evening at Military Stadium, according to FAM.
