Women's AFCON Algeria women’s team steps up training for Banyana Banyana game

Algeria women’s national football team has stepped up its training for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifying match against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana on Friday.

Algeria Football Federation website says the team regrouped on Monday ahead of the double header against Banyana Banyana.

Algeria coach Radia Fertoul has summoned 23 players for camp training.

However, defender Armelle Khellas (ASPTT Albi, France) and striker Inès Boutaleb (FC Metz, France) are yet to report for the camp due to administrative issues.

Khellas and Boutaleb are expected to link up with the rest of the squad later on Tuesday to take part in a tactical session.

The FA says the coach on Monday focused on recovery work, especially for the players who featured for the respective clubs over the weekend.

The team has also undergone anti-Covid-19 PCR tests ahead of departure for Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Banyana Banyana will host the Algerians then travel to Algiers for the second leg match on February 23.

South Africa and Algeria are gunning for a place at the Nations Cup finals scheduled for Morocco in July this year.
