Champions League Al Ahly coach Mosimane complains over continued personal attacks

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has bemoaned continued personal attacks by some officials believed to be for his former employers Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

Mosimane said this in a post-match interview after Al Ahly lost 1-0 to the DStv Premiership champions in a CAF Champions League group A match at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon.

The South African said he accepted the loss as Sundowns scored a legitimate goal through Peter Shalulile, but added that there was no need for some officials to attack him.

There are too many things personal to me. I don’t want to talk because it is unbelievable…I will talk in my book and in my documentary…before every match, they are still after me. They don’t leave me alone. I have moved on. You have a full team. You have three coaches. Leave me alone. I am gone. I have done my best. What do you want to achieve?,” he said.

Last year, some Sundowns fans insulted Mosimane and his parents just before a Champions League game between the two teams.

During the game, Sundowns completed a double over the CAF Champions League holders to close in on a quarterfinal berth.

Sundowns have 10 points whereas Al Ahly, Al Merreikh and Al Hilal have four points each and only one team can join the leaders in the quarterfinal stage.
