Nigeria and Senegal will square off in Egypt’s opening game in the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, also known as the African Youth Championships.

Nigeria and Senegal are in the same Group A as the tournament hosts and underdog Mozambique, and both teams are aware that a victory might increase their prospects of progressing to the tournament’s knockout stages.

Africa will only be represented at this year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup finals in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11 by the top four teams out of the twelve competing in Egypt.
