Transfers Chelsea to step up pursuit of Inter Milan goalkeeper Onana

Chelsea are not giving up in their chase to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana after his impressive display in the Champions League final.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is targeting to sign a new number-one keeper this summer and he had put all his focus on bringing the Cameroon star to Stamford Bridge.

The former Ajax custodian was between the sticks as the Italian outfit suffered a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City to miss out on winning the Champions League trophy on Saturday night.

Speaking after the final at Ataturk Olympic Stadium, the 27-year-old Onana said: “I’m so, so happy at Inter. At this professional level, you never know what happens.

“I’m available for Inter, they decide and I will accept what they want. I’m happy at Inter.”

On losing to Man City, Onana said: “We have shown that in life nothing is impossible, no matter how difficult it may seem that it is always worth fighting and that the only battle that is lost is the one that is abandoned.”

A graduate of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, Onana was snapped up by Ajax in 2015 and spent seven years at the Eredivisie side, before moving to Inter in 2022.

While the Indomitable Lion played just once at the 2022 World Cup, he has been pivotal for Simone Inzaghi’s side this season, making 40 appearances while keeping 19 clean sheets.
