Following a 10-day suspension from the Italian football federation for calling a referee “the worst” he had ever seen, Jose Mourinho will miss Roma’s first two Serie A games.
Mourinho will serve the suspension “from the beginning of the next league season,” which kicks off on the weekend of August 19–20, according to a statement from the FIGC’s disciplinary panel.
For his remarks criticizing Daniele Chiffi, made during Roma’s 1-1 Italian league draw at Monza early last month, Mourinho and Roma were each fined €50,000.

Chiffi and the 60-year-old got into a fight during the game, and the latter claimed to be “the worst referee I have ever encountered in my entire career.”
“He is awful, he doesn’t make any human connection and he has no empathy,” he added.
Roma finished sixth in Serie A last season and were losing Europa League finalists.
