Rwanda Rayon Sports seal signing of keeper Tamale from Maroon FC

Rwanda Premier League outfit Rayon Sports have signed shot-stopper Simon Tamale from Ugandan Premier League side Maroons FC.

Tamale had a brilliant season between the posts and he is contending for the Player of the Season award alongside Vipers SC forward Milton Karisa and Villa SC striker Charles Bbaale.

A statement on Rayon website confirmed the acquisition of Tamale: “Rayon Sports is pleased to officially announce the signing of the 28-year-old Ugandan goalkeeper Simon Tamale, who previously played for Maroon,” adding: “He is the best goalkeeper in the Ugandan league last season!

“Mr. Clean Sheet is Blue now!!!”

The 28-year-old Tamale is the favorite to win this year’s goalkeeper of the season award as he looks to see off competition from Bright Stars FC goalkeeper Hassan Matovu and Nafian Alionzi from URA FC.

Tamale moves to Rayon Sports to give competition to the current club’s number-one goalkeeper Adoplhe Hakizimana whose season has been shaped by inconsistencies between the posts. The lanky custodian started his career at Lungujja Galaxy as a teenager before moving to Police FC.
