Kenya Tusker punished Bandari FC for missed chances – Muhiddin

Bandari coach Twahir Muhiddin has insisted they deserved to get something from their 1-0 FKF Premier League defeat against Tusker at Mbaraki Sports Club over the weekend.

The Dockers hosted the Brewers for the opening fixture of the campaign and after a cagey start in the opening exchanges for both sides, it was the Brewers, who scored what turned out to be the winner in the 42nd minute through Deograstiois Ojok. Though Bandari tried to level matters in the second period, Tusker held on to secure victory and according to Muhiddin, his players should blame themselves for not taking their chances.

“The result is not what we wanted, we have lost, and it is not pleasing at all, we wanted to start the season with a win but when the boys get their chances and fail to score then these are the kind of results you get from such a display,” said Muhiddin, adding: “At the half-time break, I reminded the boys’ football is about taking your chances, making sure you score and again it came to haunt us because we squandered many of our chances but Tusker got a half-chance and they used it to score.”

The former Harambee Stars coach, who is handling the Coastal-based on a permanent deal after signing a two-year renewable contract at the end of last season, further faulted his players for not being alert when Tusker scored a James Kibande corner.

“Again we did not deserve to concede the way we did, we were not alert enough at the back, and from a corner they scored, we did not keep them away and we eventually got punished,” added Muhiddin.

Bandari will now travel to face Sofapaka in their second game of the season at Kasarani Annex on Friday while Tusker will come up against Kariobangi Sharks at Ruaraka grounds on Saturday. Sofapaka kicked off their campaign with a 0-0 draw against champions Gor Mahia, while Sharks managed a similar scoreline against Kenya Police.
