Kenya AFC Leopards lose to KCB, promoted Shabana pick first point

AFC Leopards suffered their first defeat in the 2023-24 FKF Premier League campaign after going down 1-0 against KCB while promoted Shabana FC rallied to draw 1-1 against FC Talanta in matches on Friday.

At Kasarani Stadium, the Bankers under new coach Bernard Mwalala needed a 79th-minute goal courtesy of Derrick Otanga to subdue Ingwe and bag maximum points. The outcome means, AFC under Tom Juma, who was elevated on a permanent basis following the exit of Patrick Aussems, are still winless in the top-flight having drawn 0-0 in their season opener against Talanta.

Meanwhile, at Nyayo Stadium, Tore Bobe needed a late goal courtesy of Justine Omwambo to deny Talanta a win. Despite a good display in the first half, the visiting Shabana looked jaded in the second period and they conceded at the stroke of full time.

He continued: “Despite being the away team Shabana made Talanta look ordinary, especially in the first half, they were good on the ball, and their passing was great I think when the goals start to come, you will see a very good Shabana side, I am happy for the boys.”
