UEFA Champions League UCL: Varane Confident Man United Can Win Champions League Title

Despite their recent struggles, Raphael Varane thinks Manchester United has enough talented players to win the UEFA Champions League this year.

On Tuesday, September 3 at Old Trafford, United will play their second group stage match of the campaign against Turkish Super Lig team Galatasaray.

After participating in the Europa League the previous season, the Red Devils are back in the Champions League this year.

After losing 4-3 to Bayern Munich on September 2 at the Allianz Arena, they are off to a rough start in the Champions League.

Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane and Mathys Tel scored for Bayern while Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund earned the goals for United.

Varane expressed his extreme confidence in United’s chances of winning the continental championship this season during the news conference held prior to the match with Galatasaray.

Varane was quoted by manutd.com as saying, “Yes, I believe so.”

“I think we have the quality in the squad to win the competition. The competition is difficult, you have to take care about every detail.

“But yeah we have a team with quality, with good mentality. We have to make some improvements, it’s not the start of the season we expected, but I still believe we have enough quality to compete with the best teams in the world.

“Tomorrow is a great opportunity to get the first three points in the competition and to move forward and to improve. At the moment, in the last few (weeks), I think what we can improve is to be efficient in front of the goals.

Varane has not played in the Champions League yet this year, although he has scored once in five Premier League contests.

With no points after the first matchday of the 2023/24 Champions League, Manchester United is in last place in Group A.

The Champions League has been won by the Red Devils three times (1967–1968, 1998–1999, and 2007–2008).
With nine points after seven games, they are now ranked tenth in the Premier League.

United has a record 20 Premier League victories.
