Kenya Nyamweya lauds Shabana FC after beating Tusker for first win

Shabana FC picked their first victory in the 2023-24 FKF Premier League campaign following a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Tusker in a mid-week fixture played at Ruaraka grounds on Wednesday.

Heading into the matchday six clash, the promoted Tore Bobe had not tested victory, managing three draws and two defeats. However, against the Brewers Shabana played a better game and they were forced to wait until the 70th minute when Vincent Nyabuto nodded home a cross from Rogers Aloro.

Shabana patron Sam Nyamweya led the club’s faithful for the hard-earned win against a difficult Tusker side and further praised the players for proving their critics wrong.

“Congratulations to the Shabana for registering the first win in the FKF Premier League,” Nyamweya said, adding: “Our focus now goes to supplementing Shabana to be financially sound through a fundraiser that my committee is organising.

“I would like to thank our fans, players, technical team, and leadership for the dedication and support they have shown to the team. On behalf of other leaders of the community, I want to assure the team of our total and unwavering support. The team can always count on us. Beating Tusker a giant who has been in top-flight Kenyan football is commendable. Well done boys.”

In other matches, Kakamega Homeboyz threw away a lead twice to settle for a 3-3 draw against FC Talanta at Bukhungu Stadium while Posta Rangers won their fifth straight match after dispatching visiting Nzoia 2-0 at Kasarani Annex.
