Fighting Kamaru Usman Losses Middleweight Belt To Chimaev after Unanimous Decision

Khamzat Chimaev defeated Nigerian boxer Kamaru Usman in their Saturday middleweight debut match.

There were three rounds in the fight. Chimaev had a clear advantage in the first round because he practically spent the entire contest seated on his opponent’s back.

However, things were less obvious in the following two rounds.

With scores of 29-27, 29-27, and 28-28, it appears that two of the three officials backed Chimaev in the opening round.

This was the third straight loss for the famous Kamaru Usman.

Prior to that, he was defeated twice by Leon Edwards in title fights.

Nearly two years ago, in November 2021, the Nigerian last achieved victory.

It should be remembered that Usman moved weight classes for this bout and only had 10 days before entering the octagon before receiving a fight offer from Chimaev.

This is because Paulo Costa, who was slated to challenge Chimaev, got injured.
