FIFA U17 WORLD CUP FIFA U-17: Takaoka Lone Goal Hand Japan Win Over Poland

Japan’s thrilling goal in the second half, scored by substitute Rento Takaoka, was sufficient to secure all three points in their FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023 opening match against Poland in Bandung, despite heavy rain.

The Asian team dominated the entire game and had the best chance to score in the first half when Alen Inoue expertly controlled a long kick by goalkeeper Wataro Goto.

The attacker got free and had just the goalie to beat, but his shot hit the right-hand post’s base instead of the goal.

The giant shot-stopper Michal Matys then received Poland’s gratitude for maintaining a scoreless draw after making a series of incredible saves in the second half.

Due to bad weather, play was halted halfway through the second half, causing a 10-minute delay in the game.

When play resumed, Takaoka was set up on the outskirts of the area and 15 minutes from time, Japan would get the goal that their domination deserved.

To give Japan a well-earned three points, the replacement turned the ball onto his left foot before smashing a breathtaking drive into the net’s roof.
