Kenya Football belongs to stakeholders and Kenyans not Mwendwa – Nyamweya

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has come under attack following his statement while attending a senate summon on Wednesday.

Mwendwa, who been summoned to shed light on alleged mismanagement of the game under his regime, told the Senate that be was not ready to engage football stakeholders in regards to the upcoming elections until a case in court challenging his term limit is removed.

This statement has irked a section of football stakeholders in the country with former FKF President Sam Nyamweya saying Mwendwa should be called to order and be informed that his term of office has come to an end.

Below his the statement from Nyamweya, who doubles up as the patron of FKF Premier League outfit Shabana FC.

Outgoing FKF President Nick Mwenda should be called to order. The embattled president met the Senate Committee on Labor and Social Welfare where he was suppposed to give a roadmap on the upcoming football elections next February.

Instead Mwendwa went ahead to spit arrogance by declaring that he cannot call for elections until a case filed by FKF’s Marori and the County Football Federation (CFA) is withdrawn.

First I would like to state that football in Kenya belongs to Kenyans and stakeholders and not Mwendwa. He should know that his tenure is over and he should pa way and let the bonafide delegates take the vote on whom they want as their President come February.

The state of our football in the country is in dire need of visionary men and women who have football at heart and are ready to make hard and painful decision to restore the lost glory of our football. Elections MUST happen next year whether Mwendwa like it or not. You cannot stop the election fever mood that has engulfed the country.

Mwendwa’s leadership has choked football development and progress and made Kenya lag behind even in East African Region. Kenya has been a giant of football in the region and most countries in the region used to come here for benchmarking. What is the current state? Sad to say the least.

As stakeholders in the industry we will petition to have election without delay and have a new team in office which has the interest of the sportsmen and women, stakeholders and Kenyans at heart.
