Meanwhile, on a Sunday that champions Gor Mahia took control of the FKF Premier League table after defeating KariobangI Sharks 2-1, Sofapaka put aside their troubles to hammer Nzoia Sugar 3-1 at Sudi Stadium.

Apart from having 11 players, meaning one sub on the bench, coach Ezekiel Akwana had not trained the team for a whole week as the players staged a go-slow demanding pay. But despite the slim squad, Sofapaka carried the day against the Sugar Millers with Burundian striker Fiston Abdul Razak, who was voted man of the match, notching a brace, Darius Msagha grabbed the other while ghostwriter preise Emmanuel Osoro scored a consolation for Nzoia.

On a positive note, the victory hauled Batoto ba Mungu from the bottom of the 18-team table to position 15 with 11 points. They have managed three wins, two draws and eight defeats while the defeat left Nzoia in position 17 with nine points.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia took maximum advantage of Posta Rangers’ 1-0 defeat to Nairobi City Stars on Saturday to defeat Sharks and move two points clear at the summit. Alpha Onyango scored the opener for K’Ogalo before Panchol Ghai levelled matters for Sharks.

However, lead striker Benson Omalla stunned Sharks with a late goal to send K’Ogalo to the top. In other matches, Kenya Police secured a 2-0 victory against Murang’a Seal while Kakamega Homeboyz snatched a 1-0 win against Bidco United to register their sixth straight victory and move third with 24 points.
