Nigeria AFCON 2023: Guinea Down Super Eagles 2-0 In Abu Dhabi

The Super Eagles of Nigeria lost 2-0 against Syli National of Guinea on Monday in a friendly match held in Abu Dhabi.

After thrashing a third tier Abu Dhabi club. 12-0 in an unofficial friendly game on Sunday, Jose Peseiro twerked his team as Stanley Nwabali, Raphael Onyedika, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Zaidu Sanusi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Chidozie Awaziem were among the starting eleven for the game.

Alhassan Yusuf, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, and Umar Sadiq were also included in the shocking lineup.

In the ninth minute, the Eagles got their first opportunity at goal, but Samuel Chukwueze’s ball went awry.

Two minutes later, Moses Simon floated in a free-kick, but Chidozie Awaziem was unable to connect with a header.

Simon attempted a shot in the 13th minute, but the Guinean defence blocked it.

Sadiq came close in the 27th minute, but his powerful header went just over the bar. Chukwueze missed his chance to tie the score with three minutes remaining in the first half.

Three minutes into the second half, Awaziem nearly pulled the Eagles level, but the Guinean goalkeeper denied him.

Simon attempted to avenge his earlier penalty miss, but the Guinean custodian stopped his strike.

Jose Peseiro made three substitutions in the 73rd minute, replacing Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Frank Onyeka with Omeruo, Onyedika, and Awaziem.

Simon had another chance with eight minutes remaining, but the rival goalie stopped him.

After 83 minutes, the Peseiro made three more substitutions: Lookman took Simon’s place, Joe Aribo replaced Yusuf, and Ahmed Musa replaced Chukwueze.
