AFCON AFCON 2023: FAF Wants Replay Of Burkina Faso Game

The president of the Algerian federation FAF, Walid Sadi has lodged a request to a CAF for the replay of their game against Burkina Faso.

Walid cited errors from part of the officials for the reasons to replay the game.

Bounedjah rescued Algeria from.a defeat after he scored in added time to make it 2-2.

The FAF has filed an official complaint against the video assistance referee (VAR) referee, the Gabonese Atcho Pierre Ghislain, of the match against Burkina Faso (2-2), played Saturday afternoon at the stadium. Peace in Bouaké, on behalf of the 2nd day (Gr.D) of CAN-2023, learned the APS from the president of the FAF Walid Sadi.

“The FAF accompanied this official complaint with photos and videos, following obvious penalty situations.

“The VAR did not connect. All the disputed situations were transmitted to the secretary general of the African Confederation (CAF) Véron Monsengo-Omba who was surprised,” the president of the federal body explained to APS.

During the post-match press conference, national coach Djamel Belmadi challenged the refereeing of this meeting.

“There was an obvious hand in the open area, it was a blatant penalty, I would like to point that out,” he said.

“The national team had a second draw in a row, after the one conceded on Monday against Angola (1-1).

“With two points on the clock, the “Greens” will have to win on Tuesday against Mauritania at the Bouaké stadium (9:00 p.m., Algerian) to hope to qualify for the 1/8 finals of the competition. (APS)
