Liverpool Liverpool Beat Fulham To Reach Carabao Cup final

After securing a spot in the team’s 14th Carabao Cup final with a 1-1 draw against Fulham in the second leg of their semi-final match at Craven Cottage on Wednesday, Luis Diaz scored an early goal to put Liverpool back in familiar territory.

In a rematch of the 2022 League Cup final that Liverpool won on penalties, the record nine-time League Cup winners defeated Fulham 3-2 on aggregate and will now take on Chelsea at Wembley on February 25.

In the eleventh minute, Diaz scored a goal by chesting down a high pass in the box, cutting inside, and firing a shot that deflected and snuck into the near corner.

Issa Diop gave the Fulham supporters a boost of energy when he equalised in the 76th minute, deftly finishing a precise feed from Harry Wilson, a former Liverpool player.

In some nerve-wracking minutes for Premier League leaders Liverpool—who are still in the FA Cup and Europa League—Fulham persisted in pressuring until the last siren.

Their star player and co-leader of the league, Mohamed Salah, is projected to miss three to four weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained playing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Following a deliberate first half, both teams wasted chances as the game sped up.

In a wild sequence of play, Andreas Pereira of Fulham struck a shot off the post, and Harvey Elliott of Liverpool fired directly at goalkeeper Bernd Leno as the game broke out.

Darwin Nunez, raising his hands in shock, had a fantastic opportunity to score a goal as he spun around a Fulham defender but missed the mark by a narrow margin.
