Top News Ancelotti Unfazed About Tax Evasion Charge

Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his composure in the face of claims that during his tenure at Real Madrid in 2014 and 2015, he evaded paying taxes on image rights earnings totaling one million euros ($1.09 million).

Ancelotti is being prosecuted in Spain and is asking for a four-year, nine-month prison sentence.

The prosecution claimed in a statement on Wednesday that even though the Italian coach had submitted his tax returns and was considered a resident of Spain at the time, he had failed to include the 4.2 million euros ($4.58 million) in revenue that came from his image rights.

It’s an old story and it’s not affecting me,” Ancelotti told reporters after Real’s 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig in their Champions League last-16 second leg tie on Wednesday.

“I hope it can be solved soon and I don’t have any problem and I’m calm about it. The only problem I have is that team needs to perform better.”

Additionally, the prosecutor charged Ancelotti with tax evasion by feigning to transfer his image rights to non-existent organisations outside of Spain.
