African players abroad Callum Hudson-Odoi Reaffirms Decision Of International Allegiance To Ghana

Addressing Callum Hudson-Odoi of a switch after Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup triumph in Abu Dhabi over the weekend, the prospect told the Evening Standard : ‘I don’t know. At the end of the day, we will wait until that times comes.

‘At the same time, I’ve just got to focus on the club until we get that far.’

While England have already booked their place at the World Cup in Qatar later this year, Ghana must beat Nigeria in a two-legged play-off at the end of next month to qualify.

Hudson-Odoi has scored three goals and added six assists in 27 games for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season.

The Chelsea winger, 21, also expressed his relief over not securing a loan move away from Stamford Bridge to Borussia Dortmund back in the summer, after they beat Palmeiras to win the Club World Cup.

The future Black Star to be added that ‘Big trophies like this are games you want to be involved in with a club like this.

‘Big games, big trophies, you want to win as much as possible with a club like this. Our aim is always to win games and win as many as possible. When we get the opportunity, we keep pushing.

‘If I went out in the summer I wouldn’t get opportunities to play like this and enjoy the games and win trophies.

‘So I’m really delighted that I stayed and obviously got the opportunity to play.’

Hudson-Odoi risked damaging his relationship with the Three Lions further when he turned down a call-up by Gareth Southgate for the matches against Albania and San Marino in November.

The winger is still eligible to play for Ghana because he holds dual nationality. And all three of his England caps were won before the age of 21.
