Africa Iya Mohammed: the President of the Cameroonian football federation thrown into prison!

The news caused a stir this morning in Yaounde and in all the major cities of Cameroon. All publications of the country are on alert. Iya Mohamed, the President of FECAFOOT (Cameroon Football Federation) is currently in prison. The latter was arrested at his getting off the plane from Lome where the Indomitable Lions were beaten by Togo in the 2014 World Cup qualifying.

Iya Mohamed is accused of 20 mismanagement faults as CEO of Sodecoton for the period from 2005 to 2010. A fine of two million CFA had been imposed on him and the prohibition of managing any public funds for 5 years. His mismanagement of FECAFOOT is also at stake.

The arrest comes as FECAFOOT has scheduled its elective congress on Tuesday with Iya as a candidate despite the many contestations.
