Nigeria’s former international Sundey Olisey who was earlier critical to teammate Stephen Keshi’s application as head coach of Nigeria national team, could not help applauding him admitting that the African reigning champion coach actually deserves it.
“The current national team coach Stephen Keshi, who was my captain at the World Cup in 1994, is a good one,” Oliseh is quoted as telling Fifa’s official website.
“Love him or loathe him, he brought back the African Cup of Nations title to the country, and the last time Nigeria did that was when we were playing.”

The retired Oliseh, who played in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups as well as in Nigeria’s Olympic-winning side in 1996, was part of the country’s so-called ‘golden generation’.
Keshi just got his name registered in African football annals not only because he became the first local manager to achieve the double African champion + World Cup qualification the same year but also he became the first to have qualified two African nations to the World Cup after qualifying Togo to World Cup Germany 2006 and then Nigeria to World Cup Brazil 2014.
With such an exceptional feat of Keshi, the Super Eagles manager did not chance upon a mere nomination for the Fifa Coach of the Year.
